About Cenikor

Cenikor is a long-term, residential theraputic community that helps people end the cycle of substance abuse. Cenikor gives individuals a way to create an addiction-free future and regain their self worth. Cenikor works for those who are truly serious about changing their lives.

At the Core of Recovery

A group of Colorado prisoners wanting to change the direction of their lives started Cenikor in 1967. They dedicated themselves to staying clean and sober and helping others do the same. The name Cenikor was chosen to reflect the core or center of an individual-that emotional muscle that weakens in all addictions.

Cenikor's first treatment facility was a small house in Lakewood, Colorado. The organization now has long-term residential treatment centers and outreach offices in three cities serving 500 clients daily, and the corporate office is located in Houston, Texas. We are always interested in talking to communities who are in need of the help Cenikor offers.

On the Path to Change

The Recovery program lasts 18-24 months. It is not an easy path and it is not for everyone. But for men and women, 18 years of age and older, who truly want to change, it works. Ninety percent of those who graduate from the program each year remain clean and sober.

Everyone works their way through Cenikor. Clients work in Cenikor-owned and operated businesses; in jobs in the facility; or other on-the-job training programs. Because of this, and due to the generosity of contributors, Cenikor, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, has limited government funding.

Clients are referred by professional clinicians or by the judicial system. Many times, a person comes to Cenikor because of his or her own will to change. Family members can call to find out more about our program, but those seeking change must make the call for admission.

The Cost of Recovery

We charge a one time admissions fee of $175.00 for our recovery program. Clients receive substance abuse therapy, housing, medical care, educational opportunities, everything needed to prepare them for a successful recovery-at no additional cost!
