Primary Recovery Phase

Cenikor is a model environment for change. The primary recovery phase of the program lasts about 16+ months. Emphasis is placed on changing negative behavior patterns, accepting responsibility and developing self-esteem. The program provides vocational and educational training, with accent on good work habits, social skills and decision making. You will learn to become more goal-oriented and be able to take advantage of some unique opportunities:

EducationComputer+Class

Take classes to earn your Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) if you don't already have a high school diploma. Computer training courses availabe at on-site computer lab.

Vocational Training

Receive marketable job skills through training and experience in areas such as accounting, secretarial/clerical, computer programming/data entry, food services, public relations, sales/telemarketing, automotive repair, building maintenance, landscape maintenance, carpentry, management training and counselor training. Learning any of these skills helps you become a productive member of the community when you leave Cenikor.

Disease Concept Education

Learn how to deal with the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental aspects of drug use.

Individual Counseling

One of our professional counselors will help you develop both short and long-term goals and direct you in how to accomplish them. You will be monitored by a licensed counselor or a counselor in the process of becoming certified under the supervision of the clinical supervisor.

Group+CounselingGroup Counseling

Learn how to confront others about behavior and attitudes, give positive feedback on changes that can be made, and protect egos by condemning behaviors not people.

The Family's Role

If you have children, they will be able to visit you every other Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. after you complete Orientation. (Please check with the facility for specific dates and times). Other family members may visit after you have been in the program for 90 days during Open House on Saturday evenings. Families of residents sometimes also meet with each other. Check with the facility in your area for information on family support groups.
