U.S. REP. BABIN’S CHIEF OF STAFF RECEIVES TOUR OF CENIKOR’S ROBUST ADDICTION TREATMENT PROGRAM
(Houston, TX- January 30, 2017) Cenikor Foundation (Cenikor) was honored to host U.S. Representative Brian Babin’s (TX-36) Chief of Staff Stuart Burns and Regional Director of Community Relations Beverly Ferguson, M.Ed. on a tour of its Houston/Deer Park treatment facility. Burns and Ferguson were invited to see both the long- and short-term/detox wings and had the opportunity to see how Cenikor’s services can positively impact their constituents in need. Cenikor is aligned with Rep. Babin’s, Burns and Ferguson’s focus on personal accountability and community impact through economic development. Cenikor’s programs provide professional, responsible, and quality driven treatment options that help individuals get back to healthy, stable and productive lives.
In addition to personal damage to individuals and their loved ones, substance abuse drains the economy. The United States spends billions of dollars on lost productivity, healthcare expenses, law enforcement and criminal justice costs. Research shows that every dollar spent on addiction treatment saves the taxpayers an average of seven ($7) dollars. Cenikor is dedicated to meeting the demand with accredited programming, credentialed infrastructure, and clinical staff to support the population in need in Houston and the surrounding areas. Burns inquired about the career services and workforce development programs, and commended Cenikor’s goal of helping people leave treatment with not just sobriety but with quality employment, a stable living environment, reliable transportation and network of support.
“It is in our mission to prepare and assist our clients with developing both soft and hard skills necessary to become responsible citizens free of addiction,” says Eugene Hall, Facility Director of Houston’s long-term treatment center for Cenikor. “People leave our doors and have the chance to rebuild their lives, reconnect with their families, and redirect their futures.”
“We sincerely thank Chief of Staff Burns and Director Ferguson for taking the time to see and experience what quality substance use disorder treatment care can do to support people in need and positively impact the local community. Every visitor to our facility affords us an opportunity to challenge the stigma of addiction and to illustrate that help exists to support people on their personal path to long-term recovery,’ says Jerry Hall, Senior Vice President of Cenikor Foundation. Cenikor’s long-term program has been active in the Houston/Deer Park area since 1994 but recently expanded its short-stay and detox program to meet the ever-growing need for local substance abuse treatment services.
