Continues Serving the Community with Comprehensive, Inclusive Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services
Farmington, NM, August 8—Cenikor, a leading nonprofit behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment provider, is proud to announce the expansion of its Farmington facility with the addition of a women’s medically-supervised detoxification program. Since its opening in May 2022, Cenikor Farmington has been committed to making a positive impact on the community, and this expansion further strengthens its mission to provide comprehensive and inclusive addiction treatment services.
“We are thrilled to expand our services to include women’s detox at Cenikor’s Farmington facility,” said Bill Bailey, President and CEO at Cenikor. “By offering a full continuum of care, including detox, inpatient treatment, medication-assisted treatment, and outpatient programs, we are better equipped to meet the diverse needs of our community and empower individuals to achieve lasting recovery.”
Cenikor Farmington has served 589 clients since its opening a year and a half ago, and the majority are Native American. By building a staff that reflects the diverse backgrounds of the community, the treatment facility aims to create a safe and understanding environment where cultural nuances and traditions are acknowledged and celebrated. Cenikor’s Native American majority staff brings a wealth of knowledge and lived experiences that allow for a deeper understanding of the cultural factors influencing addiction and recovery.
“There are only a few medical detox facilities in New Mexico and no other facilities in the Four Corners. There are even fewer which operate at an ASAM 3.7 level, utilizing state-of-the-art medication protocols with a nurse on site 24/7,” said Dr. Eric Ketchum, Farmington’s Medical Director. “This unit will serve a great unmet need, helping women with substance use disorders get through the difficult withdrawal phase safely, as comfortably as possible, and with dignity.”
The women’s detox at Cenikor Farmington offers a comprehensive range of services, including 24/7 medical supervision, evidence-based therapies, individualized treatment plans, and holistic approaches to healing. With the combined expertise and cultural awareness of their staff, Cenikor is better equipped to address the multifaceted needs of their clients and provide personalized care that honors both heritage and values.
Moreover, Cenikor’s commitment to inclusivity goes beyond staffing. The company actively engages with Native American communities and tribal leaders to ensure that programs align with their values and incorporate traditional healing practices when appropriate.
“We understand the unique challenges Native Americans face when seeking help for addiction,” said Jolene Schneider, Facility Director. “Representation matters and our Native American staff are instrumental in establishing trust and fostering a sense of community among our clients, ultimately leading to more effective and positive outcomes in their recovery.”
The addition of the women’s detox program complements Cenikor’s comprehensive approach to addiction treatment, ensuring all individuals have access to evidence-based, quality care regardless of their ability to pay. As a nonprofit that believes finances should never prevent access to treatment, Cenikor works with state and federal programs to fund indigent clients, and can also develop individualized payment plans for non-funded clients. Cenikor invites individuals from all backgrounds to explore the supportive environment of the Farmington facility.
