Houston, TX, July 6, 2023 – Cenikor, one of the country’s largest nonprofit behavioral health networks, is thrilled to announce the receipt of substantial congressional project funding on behalf of Congressman Al Green. This generous contribution to Cenikor’s youth substance use disorder and behavioral health facility, Odyssey House, will significantly enhance the organization’s capacity to serve the adolescent community in Houston, TX.
The federal funding is a testament to Congressman Al Green’s dedication to supporting crucial programs that address substance use disorders among adolescents. Representative Green has played a pivotal role in driving policy changes and increasing access to quality treatment at the local level. The project funding will enable Cenikor’s Odyssey House to undertake essential capital improvements within the facility, including a new roof, ceiling repairs, and health and safety updates in the kitchen. Additionally, the funding will cover related equipment, labor, and materials necessary for these improvements. The investment in these upgrades will have a lasting impact on the facility’s infrastructure, fostering an environment that promotes healing, growth, and stability.
Odyssey House plays a vital role in addressing the substance use disorder treatment needs of adolescents in the Houston area. With a capacity to serve 32 co-ed residential patients, the center provides a safe and stable environment for almost 200 adolescents annually. These young individuals actively work towards their recovery while simultaneously addressing their mental, spiritual, and emotional needs through comprehensive evidence-based behavioral health services.
