Reports this past year have shown the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the recovery community across the nation. Connection is evidenced as a key component of maintaining sobriety. This is why Cenikor Foundation has defined the new job role of Alumni Coordinator. As vaccines have increased and the numbers of cases are decreasing, the nonprofit foundation resumes creating a safe space to celebrate recovery.

“I’m excited to be involved in coordinating this effort,” says Burns. “It is incredible to see how committed Cenikor is to the recovery journey of our alumni. Beyond treatment, we have to keep them connected with their peers in recovery and help them remain anchored in a safe and sober support system.”

Burns began his career at Cenikor Foundation as an Access Center Specialist. He answered the calls of many individuals seeking treatment. Now, his promotion allows him to provide support on the other side of treatment.

“Recovery is a lifelong journey,” describes Bill Bailey, President and CEO of Cenikor. “It is not enough to provide treatment and send them on their way. Recovery support is an integral part of our full continuum of care to set these individuals up for success.”

Cenikor Foundation continued to provide treatment throughout the pandemic as an essential service. To protect the safety and wellbeing of staff and clients, contact with outside parties were limited to contain the spread of the virus. While telehealth options became a convenient way to provide outpatient services and recovery support, they do not take for granted the impact of these gatherings. Similar events will be planned for its other facilities

Cenikor Foundation is one of the oldest, most successful drug and alcohol treatment centers. Since its inception in 1967, Cenikor has been dedicated to providing high quality treatment services to those in need. The nonprofit organization continues to evolve its array of services to both adults and adolescents. Over 150,000 lives have been changed in the process.
