San Marcos, TX January 22, 2023—Cenikor, a leading nonprofit behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment network, is proud to announce the award of $22,500 in funding from the City of San Marcos for its prevention and youth recovery community (YRC) programs. This financial commitment underscores the city’s support of Cenikor’s crucial prevention programs and the well-being of the community.
This generous investment will fund essential positions on the prevention and YRC teams. The goal of these programs is to increase knowledge about the necessity of taking care of one’s physical and mental health, utilize positive coping skills, and broaden awareness of the effects of substance use among youth, young adults, and their families. Every service delivered by Cenikor’s team members has long-term potential to educate, support, and positively change the life of an adolescent, family member, Texas State University student, or co-worker in the Hays and Caldwell Counties.

Cenikor’s prevention program is at the beginning of its continuum of care model and has provided services to the San Marcos community since the early 1990s. The nonprofit relies on state and federal funding to provide prevention services, and, under these contracts, must elicit funding from local resources to meet the required match dollars which shows community buy-in. Cenikor expresses profound gratitude to the City of San Marcos for this valuable contribution.
