Houston, TX, March 5, 2024—Cenikor, a leading nonprofit behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment network, is excited to announce the launch of its 2024 Internship Program, offering a diverse range of opportunities for aspiring nurses, behavioral health, and social work students. With a promise of providing high-quality, affordable care, Cenikor invites prospective interns to embark on a journey of professional growth and hands-on learning.
The 2024 Internship Program at Cenikor is designed to provide interns with immersive experiences tailored to their academic backgrounds, career aspirations, and learning objectives. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to Cenikor’s mission of transforming lives while gaining valuable skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
“As we begin another school year, we are proud to welcome a cohort of almost three dozen interns who will assist us in advancing our mission,” said Bill Bailey, President and CEO at Cenikor Foundation. “Very few facilities offer hands-on clinical experience with substance use recovery treatment centers. Through this experience, students meet clients and better understand current treatment options, improving SUD care across the industry in the future.”
Interns participating in the 2024 program will be assigned roles based on their specific program, educational level, and learning objectives outlined in their academic plan and placement agreement. The roles encompass a wide spectrum of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Group Assistant: Providing support and assistance in group therapy sessions and behavioral health programs.
- Case Manager/Discharge Planner: Assisting in case management and discharge planning processes for clients undergoing treatment.
- Scheduler/Call Handler: Managing scheduling and handling incoming calls to facilitate seamless communication and coordination.
- Admission Assistant: Supporting the admission process by assisting with paperwork, documentation, and client intake procedures.
- Research Assistant: Conducting research projects and assisting in data collection and analysis to inform program development and evaluation.
- Quality/Compliance Clerk/Intern: Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance protocols through documentation and monitoring.
Interns will be assigned to one of three locations in Houston: Odyssey House, Deer Park, or the Facility Support Center based on organizational needs and the interns’ areas of interest and expertise. Cenikor’s Clinical Education Department will oversee all administrative tracking and documentation for interns, ensuring a structured and supportive experience throughout their tenure.
To provide prospective interns with information about the program, Cenikor will host an informational session on March 8th, 2024. This session will offer insights into the internship roles, the selection process, and the transformative opportunities that await interns at Cenikor.
