Cenikor Introduces Medication-Assisted Treatment Scholarships for Waco Residents

Supported by SAMHSA Funding Secured by Congressman Pete Sessions

Waco, TX, April 9, 2024—Cenikor, a leading nonprofit behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment network, is pleased to announce the launch of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) scholarships for residents of Waco, Texas, and its surrounding communities. This initiative comes as a result of funding provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), awarded by Congressman Pete Sessions.

Cenikor Foundation recognizes the critical need for comprehensive treatment options without cost barriers. With the support of SAMHSA funding, Cenikor now offers MAT scholarships to pay for the full cost of treatment. Scholarships are available for residents of Waco who are seeking assistance in their journey toward recovery.

Medication-assisted treatment combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapies to provide a holistic approach to substance use disorder (SUD) recovery. MAT is effective in reducing opioid use, overdose rates, and criminal activity related to SUD.

“We are excited to offer MAT Scholarships to the residents of Waco, thanks to the generous funding provided by SAMHSA and Congressman Pete Sessions,” said Bill Bailey, President and CEO of Cenikor. “These scholarships will provide individuals struggling with addiction the opportunity to access comprehensive treatment that can significantly improve their chances of recovery and long-term success.”

Residents of McLennan County who are interested in applying for the MAT scholarship program are encouraged to apply at https://www.cenikor.org/lp/mat-scholarship/.
