Meet The Speaker

State Rep Todd Hunter

State Representative

Todd A. Hunter was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on August 26, 1953. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas from 1971 to 1975 before attending the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law from 1975 to 1978. Since November 1978, Hunter has practiced law in Corpus Christi. Hunter and his wife, Alexis Taylor Hunter, are proud parents to three children: Todd Jr., Michael, and Christina. They also cherish their role as grandparents to five grandchildren.

Originally elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1988, Hunter served four terms before returning to the Texas House in 2008 as the
Representative for District 32, a position he currently holds after being re-elected in 2024. In 2025, Hunter was sworn in for his thirteenth term as a State Representative for the 89th Legislative Session where he was appointed Chairman of the Calendars Committee. Hunter also serves on the Committee on Public Education, the Subcommittee on Academic & Career-Oriented Education, and the Land and Resources Committee.

During his twelfth term as a State Representative, Hunter held significant roles within the legislature. In the 88th Legislative Session, he was appointed Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, while also serving on the Grid Reliability Oversight Committee, the Texas Energy Fund Advisory Committee, and the Panhandle Wildfire Investigative Committee. During the 87th legislative session, Hunter served as the Chairman of the Redistricting Committee and was a member of the International Relations & Economic Development Committee
