Melodie Wilson: Building Community and Connection Through Recovery and Disc Golf

For Melodie Wilson, supporting recovery is deeply personal and intentionally hopeful.

Her journey has shaped a passion for creating spaces where people feel connected, supported, and seen. After witnessing firsthand how Cenikor removed barriers to treatment when her family needed help, Melodie felt called to give back in a way that was both authentic and accessible.

“Recovery is strengthened through community,” Wilson shared. “Disc golf creates a space where people can show up, connect, and feel supported.”

While visiting the Deer Park campus, Melodie noticed the quiet potential of the outdoor space and imagined how it could become a place for connection and healing. That vision led her to introduce disc golf, a sport she knew could bring people together in meaningful ways.

Disc golf offers something simple but powerful. It invites movement, focus, and shared experience without pressure or pretension. People arrive from different backgrounds and stages of life, yet quickly find common ground. Conversations happen naturally. Community forms organically.

What began as the idea to donate a single disc golf basket grew into a program rooted in dignity, accessibility, and belonging. Through this effort, individuals in recovery are offered a healthy outlet for connection and reflection during a time when structure and support matter most.

Cenikor is deeply grateful for Melodie’s partnership, generosity, and belief in second chances. Her support continues to strengthen community and expand opportunities for healing.
