Conveniently located in the heart of Tyler, this location combines the heart of a small town with advanced, evidence-based clinical practices.
Our 33-bed detox and residential levels of care provide around the clock medical monitoring and support as clients begin the recovery process. Clients participate in individual and group counseling sessions, outside 12-step meetings, relapse prevention, and recovery coaching.
“Withdrawal management stabilizes the body but rebuilding a life requires much more. After medical stabilization at our Tyler facility, our clinical and case management team works with clients on the practical and psychological dimensions of stability. That includes housing security, which we address through connection to appropriate resources; family relationship repair through family counseling services when possible; vocational and educational support; and financial literacy when relevant. On the clinical side, we build the emotional regulation and coping skills that allow clients to manage stress without returning to substance use. Recovery Support Specialists continue this work after discharge, providing ongoing coaching and accountability.” – Dr. Jake Strain
Our Tyler location also supports those on an outpatient basis through medication-assisted treatment (MAT), intensive and supportive outpatient, and aftercare (recovery coaching & alumni).
“Meeting someone where they are means beginning with the person’s reality — their readiness to change, their life circumstances, their values, and their goals — rather than imposing an external ideal of what recovery should look like. In practice at Cenikor, it means using Motivational Interviewing to understand what matters to each individual and building treatment goals around those values. It means not requiring someone to have hit rock bottom before we’ll help them. It means accepting clients who are coming from homelessness, legal involvement, or profound family disconnection and treating them with the same clinical respect as anyone else. Our mission is behavioral health for all — and that phrase means something specific in how we show up each day.” – Dr. Jake Strain
Many of our staff are in recovery themselves, so they know what it takes to heal. At Cenikor Tyler, we create a space where recovery is real, supported, and meaningful — even when relapse occurs.
Built for access. Proven by outcomes.
“Relapse is a recognized part of the chronic disease of addiction for many people — not a moral failure and not evidence that treatment doesn’t work. When someone comes to Cenikor’s Tyler facility after a previous treatment experience, we approach that history with clinical curiosity rather than judgment. We examine what happened: Were there unaddressed co-occurring conditions? A step-down aftercare plan that didn’t hold? Unresolved trauma? Environmental triggers that were never adequately addressed? The answers inform a more targeted, realistic treatment plan the second or third time. We also reinforce relapse prevention skills much more explicitly and connect clients with sustained peer and Recovery Support Specialist involvement post-discharge.” – Dr. Jake Strain
